Your route, moving at your pace.
Free. Nothing uploads. Drop it into your editor and you're done.
Not a video — a real render, running in your browser right now.
How it works
-
1
Export your GPX or TCX
Download the GPX or TCX file from your watch or running app — Garmin, Apple Watch, Strava, Samsung, and most others.
-
2
Drop it in
Add it to RunReel. It's read right in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
-
3
Pick your overlay
Choose what to show — route, pace, distance, heart rate — and preview it live.
-
4
Create the video
Export a greenscreen MP4, then key out the green in your video editor.
FAQ
- Is RunReel free?
- Yes — completely free. No payment, no subscription, no trial.
- How can I export my GPX or TCX?
- Most watches and running apps can export a GPX or TCX file — Garmin and Strava do it in a couple of clicks, and Apple Watch and Samsung take a quick workaround. See the Export Guide for step-by-step instructions for each app.
- Can I use it on mobile?
- Yes. But because nothing is sent to a server, the video is made on your own device's hardware — so a faster computer renders quicker, especially for longer runs. Short runs are fine on a phone.
- Where does my run data go?
- Your GPX or TCX file is read in your browser and the video is made on your device. The file, your route, and your coordinates are never uploaded and never stored on a server.
- Do you track me?
- RunReel uses analytics to measure anonymous usage — for example, how many videos finish exporting. It may set a cookie, and it never includes your GPX or TCX file, your route, your coordinates, or anything that identifies you. Your running data stays on your device.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There's no sign-up and no login — open the tool and start.
- Why is the exported video green?
- It's exported on a green background so you can lay it over your own footage and remove the green with a chroma-key (greenscreen) tool in your editor.
- Which video editors work?
- Any editor with a greenscreen / chroma-key tool — Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, and most others.
- What's a GPX or TCX file, and where do I get one?
- A GPX or TCX file holds your run's route and timing. You can export one from Garmin Connect, Apple Fitness, Strava, Samsung Health, and most running apps.
